Once again, expired cheques have been re-issued for cashing. Earlier, the finance ministry had issued two notifications in a row, re-issued expired checks and allowed them to deposit and cash. However, due to the prevalence of corona, some cheques of various ministries could not be deposited in the bank on time. As a result, they become obsolete. So again the ministries have been given a chance.
The Finance Division of the Finance Ministry has issued a notification in this regard on Monday.
The circular states that in case of cheques less than Tk. One lakh the proposal along with the payment certificate should be sent to the finance division through the concerned ministry / division.
In case of cheques in excess of Tk. One lakh the certification of the departmental head / secretary, the certification of the cheque issuing authority to the effect that the ch has not been cashed, the proposal along with the non-payment certificate of the bank should be sent to the finance division through the concerned ministry / department.
