Karttik-Agrahayana these two months are Hemantakal in Bengal. And Hemanta is said to be the season of incomparable and in beautiful form. With which the happiness and sorrow and laughter and tears of the people of Bengal are connected. Farmers of Bengal dream in this season.

Morning dew wet grass and light mist ring in nature the message of winter. The ripe golden paddy in the field, the scene of the farmer bringing home the paddy, the joy of the farmer's Navanna are all the accompaniments of Hemanta form. It's like the cold hand of winter. The dew is falling all night. Dewdrops glistening on the grass in the open field. In the morning, the crop fields, vegetable fields are filled with dew. Rich in history and tradition, the three canals, paddy and river are experiencing the first chill of winter in Barishal.

In this season, the fishing festival starts in the rural areas of different upazilas of Barishal. Monsoon and autumn rains tend to dry up. Fish and rice of Bengalis went out to hunt fish with nets, spears. Meanwhile, due to heat during the day and cold during the night, cold-related diseases are increasing in various health centers including upazila hospitals. Especially children and the elderly are more affected by cold, cough, pneumonia and diarrhea.

Barishal Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Prashant Kumar Saha told Barta24.com that usually many people are affected by various viral diseases during the change of seasons. Recently, the hospital in Barisal is also receiving more patients with viral diseases. Especially now children are coming to the hospital suffering from various cold-related diseases. If the child is sick, the mother should breastfeed and feed regularly. Care must be taken that he does not get cold. Residential houses should be well lit and should also be kept away from dust. If the child is sick for more than 3 consecutive days, it is necessary to consult a specialist doctor.

In this regard, Barishal upazila agricultural officer, Krishibid Aniruddha Das told Barta24.com that during this period, the infestation of insects and spiders increases in the cropfield. That's why we advise the farmers to follow the right method after determining the right drug, right dose, right time etc. in advance. Besides, I am also suggesting to spray pesticides in the right way.
