Ganoforum (part), Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), Bangladesh People's Party have announced not to participate in the upcoming 12th Jatiya Sangsad(JS) elections.
These parties announced this decision through separate press releases on Saturday (November 25) night. According to the circular, a joint meeting of Ganoforum and Bangladesh People's Party was held at its office on Elephant Road in the capital under the chairmanship of Ganoforum President Mustafa Mohsin Montu on Saturday afternoon. In the meeting it was decided not to participate in the elections under the current government.
The leaders of both the parties feel that the ruling government has ignored the people's wishes and the opinions of democratic political parties. The Election Commission has pushed the country towards disaster by announcing the so-called schedule.
The press release also said that absentee cases are being filed against the opposition leaders and activists in the movement for restoration of democracy. Opponents are being arbitrarily arrested and sent to prison. Sentencing is fast. There is no question of fair, acceptable and participatory elections under this government.
On the other hand, the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) said in a press release that some media have published news that JSD president ASM Abdur Rab is participating in the election which is false, fabricated and baseless.
ASM Abdur Rab said that JSD will not participate in the so-called arranged elections under the current Election Commission.
