7th phase of blockade enforced by BNP-Jamaat begins

The seventh phase of the blockade called by BNP and like-minded parties to demand the government's resignation and elections under a non-partisan government has begun. The blockade will last for 48 hours from Sunday (November 26) dawn to Tuesday dawn. Before this, BNP enforced a six-phase blockade program.

They will carry out a nationwide blockade program including roads, railways, waterways and highways. Newspaper vehicles, ambulances, oxygen cylinder vehicles and emergency medical transport will be exempted from the blockade.

BNP along with like minded and Jamaat-e-Islami enforced nationwide two-point strike and six-point blockade program after BNP's grand rally in Dhaka on October 28.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi called upon the leaders and activists as well as ordinary people to take to the streets with courage after the successful 48-hour total blockade program from today.

Addressing the countrymen in a virtual press conference on Saturday, he said, 'You and I are not alone in the peaceful movement. With everyone's participation, one party's movement will be more extensive, faster and brighter. Remember, the democratic people of the country and the democratic forces of the world do not want to see fascist rule in Bangladesh anymore. Government will fall.

In addition, Jamaat-e-Islami Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum in a statement urged the countrymen to participate spontaneously in the success of the program.

In a separate statement, JSD General Secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmud Swapan, coordinator of the Democracy Forum, said that the government is afraid of the spontaneous participation of the people in the peaceful program of the opposition party. He appealed to the people to peacefully end the all-out blockade across the country.

NPP chairman and coordinator of the nationalist like-minded alliance Fariduzzaman Farhad also called for the success of the blockade in a statement.

In addition, the 12-party alliance, LDP, Nurul Haque Noor-led Gono Adhikar Parishad, Dr. Reza Kibria-led Gono Adhikar Parishad, Gano Forum (MONTU), People's Party, Bangladesh Labor Party and several other political parties have supported blockade program.
