The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that 226 health workers have been killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon.
Al-Jazeera reported this on Friday (November 22).
According to the WHO report, the Gaza-Israel war began after a Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7 last year. Since then, about 230 health workers have been killed in Lebanon.
WHO representative Abdinasir Abu Bakr said that from October 7, 2023 to November 18 of this year, there were a total of 187 attacks on health facilities in Lebanon. 226 people were killed and 199 others were injured.
He also said that 70 percent of the deaths occurred after September last year. In particular, September, October, November - these three months were actually the deadliest period for health workers.
Meanwhile, five health workers were killed in clashes between Hezbollah and Israel in Lebanon on Thursday (November 21).
The Palestinian Health Ministry claims that more than 10,000 people are still missing under the rubble of destroyed houses across the Gaza Strip. Israel has continued its brutal assault on the besieged territory despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
According to the UN, about 85 percent of the Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced due to Israel's brutal attack. And all of Gaza is now food insecure amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine.
It is worth noting that 3,645 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanon so far. 15,355 have been injured.
In addition, at least 44,056 people have been killed in Israeli military attacks on Gaza since October 7 last year. Another 104,286 have been injured.
On the other hand, 1,139 people have been killed in Hamas attacks in Israel. More than 200 Israeli citizens are being held captive.
