Tensions on the India-China border have erupted again. India and China have increased their military presence in the Pangong and Galoyan valleys along the Line of Control(LC) in eastern Ladakh.
In the wake of the situation, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting with Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and the Chiefs of the three Armed Forces on Tuesday (May 26) evening. The meeting was attended by the country's national security adviser Ajit Doval. Modi also had separate meetings with the country's foreign secretary Harshvardhan Sringla.
In the meantime, China has built bunkers. China has also built temporary infrastructure. There they deployed two to two and a half thousand additional troops. India, on the other hand, has similarly increased its troop. Tensions are running high on the India-China border.
Earlier in the day, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held a one-on-one meeting with Modi on Ladakh. He also had a meeting with the Chief of the Three Armed Forces and Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat. They reviewed the security situation in the border areas. Army Chief MM Narvane briefed Rajnath on the current situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). They reviewed the security aspects of the Ladakh border.
India has repeatedly clashed with China over its intrusion into India in violation of the border agreement. Earlier this month, tensions between the two countries began to rise again. On May 9, Indian troops clashed with Chinese forces in the Naku La sector on the northeastern border. Several people were injured. Later, with the intervention of the leaders of the two sides, the situation temporarily eased, but the situation did not return to normal. On the contrary, in the last few days, both sides have deployed troops in Pangong and Galoyan valleys. China has set up tents along the banks of the Galoyan River. Initially, two or three thousand troops were deployed there, but this has been increased to five thousand.
Meanwhile, satellite images of the Ladakh border area show that construction work is underway to land helicopters and warplanes at Nari Gansa Airport in Tibet, 200 kilometers from Pangong. The picture also shows four warplanes lined up at the airport's tarmac.
