The Bangladesh Administrative Service Association (BASA) has demanded the trial of Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury alias Nixon, an independent MP- Faridpur 4 accused of threatening Faridpur's deputy commissioner and insulting AC Land on UNO's phone.

The demand was made in a press release signed by BCS administration cadre officials Helaluddin Ahmed, president of the organization and senior secretary of the local government division, and Sheikh Yusuf Harun, secretary general and secretary of the public administration ministry.

Earlier, Faridpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Atul Sarkar informed the Cabinet Division about the incident and sent it to the Election Commission. In this situation, the Election Commission (EC) has decided to file a case against Faridpur-4 MP Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury. This action is being taken against him for violating the code of conduct in the election of Charbhadrasan Upazilla Parishad. Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda said the case would be filed today, Wednesday or tomorrow, Thursday.

Independent MP Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury was accused of threatening the Faridpur DC to give a 'tooth-breaking reply' last Saturday over the by-election for the post of Charbhadrasan Upazila Parishad chairman. On the same day, he called the UNO of Charbhadrasan and insulted the Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Bhanga Upazilla. Video images and audio of the two incidents have also spread on social media. However, Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury has claimed that the audio of the using abusive language was fabricated or ‘super edited’. At a press conference on Tuesday, the MP claimed that his statement had been 'super edited'. He did not use such abusive language.

A statement from the Administrative Service Association said that it was unthinkable for an MP or a healthy-minded gentleman to use derogatory language, insulting and threatening DC and encouraging his followers to use obscene slogans. In addition, the kind of indecent and vulgar words used by an MP despite being a female UNO official is extremely insulting to Bengali culture and values. The Association strongly condemned this defamatory and indecent language and demanded proper investigation and proper prosecution of the culprits.
