Sheikh Hasina sends Durga Puja gift for Mamata

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent a congratulatory gifts to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja following the continuation of the cordial relation and friendship between the two countries.

The Prime Minister's gift items were sent to West Bengal, India through the Benapole check post on Sunday (October 18) at noon. In the evening, Deputy High Commissioner of the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata, Tawfiq Hasan, delivered the gifts to the West Bengal Chief Minister's Office, Nabanna.

Benapole C&F Agent Representative Mostafizur Rahman Rubel said he took the gifts sent to the West Bengal Chief Minister from the Benapole check post around 12 noon and delivered them to the Petrapole check post on the other side.

Ahsan Habib, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Benapole Checkpost Immigration, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's gifts were sent to Benapole through Ataur Rahman, Chief Protocol Officer of the Prime Minister's Office. Alam Hossain, Assistant Secretary to the First Secretary of the Bangladesh Sub-High Commission in Kolkata, was staying at Petrapole to receive the gifts.

BM Jamal Hossain (Political), Deputy Commissioner of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, told local reporters that the gifts sent by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Kolkata in the evening and were delivered to the Chief Minister's Office.

It may be recalled that in a similar way Mamata Banarjee had sent gifts for Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
