Security has been beefed up at police stations in Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Motijheel division. Light machine gun (LMG) check posts have been set up in each police station. A policeman is always ready at the check post. LMGs have been placed on sandbags in front of these police stations.
DMP's Motijheel Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syed Nurul Islam confirmed the matter on Monday (April 12).
He said Motijheel police station, Sabujbagh police station, Khilgaon police station, Paltan Model police station, Rampura police station, Mugda police station and Shajahanpur police station of Motijheel division have set up outposts with sandbags and kept policemen on duty with LMG and Chinese rifles.
According to the DMP headquarters, LMG outposts are being set up in every police station in the capital in the interest of additional security considering the overall situation in the country.
Earlier on Thursday, DMP Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam directed to increase the security of all police stations in Dhaka. He directed a 24-hour patrol around the police station.
