The Directorate of Health has expressed concern over the detection of highly contagious coronavirus in Bangladesh. At the same time, everyone should be concerned about this variant, said the Additional Director General of the Directorate, Prof. Dr. Nasima Sultana.

She made the remarks at an emergency press conference on the Indian variant at the Health Directorate at 3:30 pm on Saturday (May 8).

Dr. Nasima Sultana said the samples taken from eight people in Jashore were tested separately by Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) and IEDCR. The Indian variant has been detected in the tests of both the institutions.

She said the samples of eight people were tested in the lab of Jashore University of Science and Technology and the type of Indian corona was identified in the bodies of the two. In addition, very close to the Indian type has been identified in the bodies of the four.

The victims all came to Bangladesh through Benapole of Jashore, they are all Bangladeshis. However, samples of those who came to Bangladesh through Benapole a few days ago and escaped from the hospital have also been tested, said Professor Nasima Sultana, adding that none of them were identified if they were infected with the coronavirus.
