The court ordered to hand over the prominent religious speaker Abu Twa-ha Adnan and his two companions to their families.

Judge KM Hafizur Rahman of the Rangpur Metropolitan Judicial Court issued the order around 11:30 pm on Friday (June 18). Later they were handed over to their respective families.

Confirming the matter, Court Inspector Nazmul Islam said three people, including religious speaker Abu Twa-Ha Mohammad Adnan, were brought to the court from the DB office around 9:15 pm. There they testified voluntarily in the court of Metropolitan Judicial Court Judge KM Hafizur Rahman. The court later ordered them to be handed over to their families, considering voluntary hiding. Abu Twa-Ha Mohammad, his companion Abdul Mukit and driver Amir Uddin Fayez were later handed over to the family.

Kotwali Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rashid said in a statement to the court that they had voluntarily gone into hiding. They were handed over to the family as there were no charges against them.

Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Abu Maruf Hossain told a press conference at the DB office in Rangpur around 5pm that religious speaker Abu Twa-Ha Muhammad Adnan had told police that he had gone into hiding at a friend's house in Gaibandha for personal reasons.

After Friday prayers, Twa-Ha's relatives said he returned to his first wife's father's house in the Chartala area of Rangpur city. Upon receiving the news, the police brought Adnan from the house to the DB office for questioning at around 3 pm.

After an initial interrogation of about an hour and a half, police said at around 5 pm that Twa-Ha and his three companions left Gabtali in Dhaka for Rangpur on the night of June 10. After that, they hid in the house of a friend named Shihab in Tri-Mohni of Gaibandha. However, the police did not agree to reveal the personal reason. Later, they were taken to the court from the DB office at around 9.15 pm.

Incidentally, on Thursday (June 10) at around 4 pm, Adnan along with three companions left for Dhaka in a rented car from Rangpur. The last time he talked on his mobile phone at night, he told his mother that he (Adnan) was going through Savar area. Then at 2:36 AM (night) Abu Twa-Ha Mohammad Adnan talked with his wife Habiba Noor on his mobile phone. He said he was in Gabtali, Dhaka at the time. Since then, his phone was found switched off and he could not be reached. Abdul Muhith, Mohammad Firoz and driver Amir Uddin were with him at the time. Their mobile phones were also found switched off from that night.

After searching all possible places, his mother Azeda Begum lodged a GD with Rangpur Kotwali Police Station on Friday evening.
