Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that all members of the society including public representatives, public administration, social workers and media workers should work together to deal with the disaster.

In a message issued on the occasion of International Disaster Management Day on October 13, the Prime Minister said, "We are working tirelessly to establish Bangladesh as a developed and prosperous country by 2041 by ensuring modern disaster management through appropriate programs." With the combined efforts of all, we will be able to build the golden Bangladesh of Bangabandhu's dream free from hunger and poverty, Insha Allah.

In the message, she further said, "I am happy to know that 'International Disaster Management Day-2021' is being celebrated in Bangladesh like other countries of the world." At the same time, the 50th anniversary of the Cyclone Preparedness Program (CPP) is being celebrated. I think the theme of this year's International Disaster Management Day - 'Disaster Risk Reduction, Working together' has been significant and timely enough.

The Prime Minister said the Awami League government has shown remarkable success in preventing loss of life and property of the people due to natural and man-made disasters in the last few years. Standing disaster orders have been updated. The ‘Delta Plan 2100’ has been adopted to include disasters. Disaster risk management in Bangladesh is currently recognized as a 'role model' in reducing the risk of life and property in disasters. Inspired by the various activities and programs of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, the people of Bangladesh have gained the morale to be diligent and ready to protect their lives and property in any disaster.

She said the greatest Bengali of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was a pioneer in formulating disaster risk reduction programs. He arranged for the construction of 'Mujib Killa' to protect lives and property from the cyclone. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib established the 'Cyclone Preparedness Program (CPP)' as an institutional arrangement for the deployment of volunteers. Under the CPP, women and men volunteers continue to make significant contributions to disaster response.

The Prime Minister wished success to all the programs taken on the occasion of 'International Disaster Management Day-2021'
