UN Resident Coordinator Mia Seppo called on the government to ensure the security of Bangladesh's minorities. She also called for an independent inquiry into the recent incident.

Mia Seppo, the UN Resident Coordinator, wrote that recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh in hate speech on social media are against the values of the constitution. And it should stop. We call on the government to ensure the protection of minorities and an impartial investigation.
"We urge everyone to join in the effort to strengthen Bangladesh's participatory and tolerant society," the UN Resident Coordinator wrote.
