‘Army will be ready to accept highest sacrifice in national need’

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed hope that the Bangladesh Army will always be ready to accept the highest sacrifices in any national need including protection of independence and sovereignty.

The Prime Minister expressed her hope at the handing over of the flag to the Mujib Regiment and Raushan Ara Regiment on Wednesday (October 27) and the awarding of National Standards to 10 units of the Army. She joined the function through video conference from Ganobhaban.

The Prime Minister said the Bangladesh Army is playing a role in protecting the sovereignty of the country as well as in the development of various socio-economic and infrastructural issues including dealing with natural and man-made disasters. The army is making significant contribution in the development of communication system. Members of the Army, known as Operation Cove Shield, have played a leading role in Corona.

Sheikh Hasina said, "They have brought honor and dignity to Bangladesh through their self-sacrifice, conscientiousness and professionalism in establishing world peace which has brightened the image of Bangladesh abroad. In particular, the humanity of our military members fascinates. I believe that the army will always be ready to accept the highest sacrifices for any national need, including the protection of independence and sovereignty. "

The Prime Minister said, "The country is moving towards the bright future by overcoming hundreds of adversities. Our goal is to build a hunger, poverty free and developed Bangladesh. That dream of Bangladesh was seen by the father of the nation. Bangladesh will move forward with the ideology of the great liberation war. We will walk with our heads held high as a world-winning nation. '

The Prime Minister thanked the members of the army for presenting with an orderly and pleasant parade. At the end of the ceremony, Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed thanked them.

Earlier, the Prime Minister presented national flags to Army Chief Artillery Center and School Field 4, 12 and 20 Field, 5 Air Defense Regiment Artillery, 5th and 6th Riverine Engineer Battalion, 1st and 2nd Signal Battalion, Army Aviation Group and NCO Academy and Mujib Regiment and Rowshanara Regiment, a new flag of artillery.
