The Meteorological Department said cyclone ‘Jawad’ in the West-Central Bay of Bengal could hit Andhra Pradesh and southern Orissa. However, we will have to wait till Saturday to know whether the cyclone will head towards Bangladesh or not.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has already asked the country's seaports to hoist remote warning signal number 2. Fishing boats and trawlers have been asked to move cautiously from near the coast. With that said, not to move in the deep sea.

The Indian Meteorological Office said in a bulletin at 2:15 pm local time on Friday that a cyclone had formed over the West-Central Bay of Bengal at 11:30 am, which could hit land between northern Andhra Pradesh and southern Orissa on Saturday morning.

According to the World Meteorological Organization's Cyclone Regional Organization (ESCAP) list, the cyclone was named 'Jawad'. The name was suggested by Saudi Arabia.

According to the Indian Meteorological Office, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Orissa, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. The National Disaster Response Force has already deployed 46 teams in the states. Another 18 teams have been kept ready.

Whether Jawad can strike Bangladesh or not is still under review. The Meteorological Department said, "We will report about the cyclone tomorrow (Saturday)." But it will definitely have some effect in Bangladesh. '

The Meteorological Department also said that a cold spell could sweep the country in the middle of this month

According to the latest forecast of the Meteorological Office, the apparent low depression in the southeastern Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea area will intensify and move north-west, first in the West-Central Bay area and then in the deep depression. It may become more concentrated and move north-west. An extension of it extends to the North Bay.

The forecast also said that the weather across the country may remain dry with partly cloudy. Scattered light fog may fall in some parts of the country in the morning. Night time temperatures could rise by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius across the country.
