Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah has sought the cooperation of Deputy Commissioners in curbing corruption. He said a deputy commissioner knows where there is scope for corruption in his office. They should work to raise awareness in that place.

The ACC chairman told reporters after the ninth session of the third and final day of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) conference at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Thursday (January 20).

He said one of the tasks of the ACC is to raise awareness so that corruption should not happen. It is also one of the tasks of the ACC to keep people away from corruption. That is why we have requested the DCs. They always help us, we ask for more help.

He further said that another job of the ACC is public hearing. As technology advances, so does the nature of corruption. New types of corruption are also known if public hearings are held somewhere. However, it is now limited due to the pandemic.

Asked if the DCs have mentioned any challenges while going to work, the ACC chairman said, "One of our problems is that it takes some time to investigate." This may be due to the fact that there are many complaints but problems. This is a limitation of us. This is what we are trying to address. We are trying to complete the investigation within the stipulated time.

Regarding the allegation that the ACC lawyers do not attend the hearing of the case for a long time, he said, "We try to appoint only those who are wise lawyers in the district." We have a panel on what is in the ACC law. No lawyer would agree to take the salary of the Assistant Secretary or Assistant Director. However, he is not present at the time of the case - such incidents are very rare.
