There has been a mixed reaction among teachers and parents at the announcement of closure of class-examinations of educational institutions due to the increase in coronavirus infection in the country. From the experience of the last two years, someone says, not only schools and colleges should be closed, but also all social events should be closed. Otherwise students will be at risk of being infected by participating in these events during the shutdown. Someone is saying that leaving everything open and just closing the educational institution is a suicidal wrong decision.

Saifuddin Ahmed Nannu, an Assistant Professor at Khan Bahadur Awlad Hossain Khan College in Manikganj, told Barta24.com that students cannot be kept safe just by keeping schools and colleges closed. In order to get the benefit of closure, at the same time, strictness has to be imposed on fairs, marriages, socio-cultural and religious ceremonies. Otherwise, students will be at risk of becoming infected by participating in these events during the shutdown.

Safayet Hossain, principal of Matikata Skylers Model School in the capital, told Barta24.com that a nation does not need an atom bomb to destroy it, it just needs to destroy its education system. Today we are moving in that direction.

Bushra is a fourth grader at a school in the capital. Her mother, Selina, told Barta24.com that it was not possible to teach her when my daughter was in the third grade. The school was closed for Corona. Is reading online and school reading one? What will so many kids learn online alone? Now promoted to fourth grade. School closed again. I am thinking what is in front of me.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Shafiqul Islam Jasim, a parent of a primary school student, told Barta24.com that keeping everything open and closing educational institutions is not a solution. The closure of educational institutions for a long time will result in an incompetent generation for the next generation which will cause us to suffer for a long time. The child who was admitted to the school two years ago to learn A / B but has to be raised to the upper class without fully developing his / her talents. Again, those who were studying in 8th class or 11th class and those who were picked up in the next class by auto pass are nothing but waiting for the meritless generation.

After the first corona pandemic in Bangladesh in March 2020, all educational institutions were declared closed from March 18. Then step by step the continue continues to grow. The government has imposed 11 restrictions since January 13 to combat the latest coronavirus infection. Even then, as the upward transmission did not have any effect, 7 new instructions were given from January 21, including the closure of educational institutions. The directives further state that no more than 100 people may be allowed to attend state, social, political, religious gatherings and ceremonies. Besides, the office will run with half the manpower till February 6. The Cabinet Division on Sunday issued new instructions for public and private offices.

According to an article published by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), about 17 crore students around the world have been deprived of education for a year till March last year. Of these, about 10 crore children were from 14 countries, of which Bangladesh is one. In such a situation, experts are insisting on forcing the students to follow the hygiene rules to send them to class.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, another 10,906 people have been newly identified in the country and the detection rate has come to 31.29 percent. This rate is the highest in the last six months. Earlier, the highest was identified on July 22 last year. On that day, in every 100 sample tests, Covid came positive in 32.18.

The previous day, last Saturday, there were 9,614 new patients. On that day, the detection rate was 28.2 percent as compared to the sample test. In other words, the number of patients has increased to 1,292 in one day; which is the highest detection rate in the last six months. In the last 24 hours (Saturday morning from 8am to Sunday morning yesterday) 14 more people died in Corona. The day before, 17 people had died.
