Metrorail will run for 12 hours from today

For the convenience of passengers, the Metrorail will run from 8 am to 8 pm from today Wednesday.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Managing Director (MD) M A N Siddique confirmed the information. He said, now the weekly holiday of the metro is on Tuesday but in the new schedule it will remain closed on Friday.

It has been informed that this schedule will be effective from Uttara North station of Metrorail to Agargaon.

According to the new timing, the metro will leave every 10 minutes from 8 am to 11 am as 'peak hour'. After 11 am, metro will leave at 15 minutes interval till 3 pm. Metro Rail will leave the station again every 10 minutes for the next 3 hours. Metro will run every 15 minutes during 'non-peak hours' from 6 pm till 8 pm.

Dhaka's first metro rail was launched on December 28 last year. Limited time runs from the start. DMTCL authorities said that metro rail will run experimentally from Agargaon to Motijheel section next July. By December, the entire route could start carrying passengers. Then maybe the metro rail will run up to 16 hours a day. It will be extended to 24 hours gradually.
