Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Farooq Khan said to identify the existing problems of the tourism sector and take immediate steps to solve them to explore the immense potential of the country's tourism. He said that visa facilitation for foreign tourists, issuance of visas at the earliest, increasing the scope of on-arrival visas will be discussed with the Ministry of Home Affairs and action will be taken quickly.
He said these things during a meeting with the officials of Bangladesh Tourism Board and Tourism Corporation located at Tourism Bhawan in Agargaon of the capital on Tuesday. Ministry Secretary Mokammel Hossain was present at this time.
The minister said that everyone in the tourism sector should be smart in thinking and working to implement the Prime Minister's vision Smart Bangladesh to build Bangabandhu's dream of Sonar Bangla. Tourism industry will develop if everyone works together sincerely. There will be positive changes in this industry. Private sector and tour operators are important stakeholders in our tourism. All kinds of cooperation will be given to them to continue the trend of development in tourism.
Farooq Khan said that domestic tourists have increased due to the improvement in the living standards of the people of the country. It's a joy. Now focus on increasing foreign tourists. In order for foreign tourists to know about tourism in Bangladesh, innovative promotional strategies should be used. He also laid importance on launching special services at the airport and making efficient tour guides for them.
He also said that the tourism attractions of the country should be properly highlighted to the foreign tourists while keeping our culture intact. We need to popularize our tourist destinations. Besides, emphasis should be given on eco-tourism, adventure tourism and culinary tourism.
