Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina advised BNP men to burn their wives sarees before boycotting Indian products. She asked them how many Indian sarees do their wives have? So why is he not burning the sarees from their wives? Everyone ask this question to BNP leaders.

She made this comment during the party's discussion meeting on the occasion of Independence Day at the Dhaka district Awami League office in Tejgaon of the capital on Wednesday (March 27) afternoon.

The Prime Minister said that when the BNP was in power the wives of many BNP ministers used to go to India. They used to buy sarees and travel here and there. Many people I know have seen it, I have seen it myself. Once I saw five people together when going on a plane, I asked what's the matter? Five ministers' wives at the same time? There were people I knew at Kolkata airport, so I said how many suitcases on the way and how many suitcases on the way back give me some information. I was going to Bangalore to see my children. Later, they said correctly, minister’s wives came with one suitcase at the time of arrival, but when they returned, they were bringing 6/7 suitcases.

She also said, I said I don't need to buy sarees anymore. They are taking something from there. This is their condition. I will tell the BNP leaders who boycott Indian products to go to everyone's house and burn his wife's Indian saree in front of the office. On that day I will believe that you really boycott Indian products.

The Awami League president said, in our country, hot spices, onions, garlic, ginger, whatever comes from India should not be seen in Indian spices in anyone's kitchen. They should be cooked and eaten with these spices. So they have to answer whether they can eat it or not. You are a master of coloring, we have seen it before. Now come to reality, we want to know whether you are actually boycotting Indian products.

Another BNP leader said where is democracy? Sheikh Hasina commented that they don't see democracy. In their eyes, the knife of dictatorship is worn.

Questioning the fact that they did not ride the Metrorail, the Prime Minister said, Khaleda Zia had ordered not to climb the Padma Bridge, now do they cross the Padma Bridge, or swim or cross by boat? You will need a boat too.

She also said, is there no democracy in Bangladesh? So what is the definition of democracy? Abraham Lincoln's definition is Government of the people, by the people, for the people. When I went to America, I asked them, why do you support this practice in your country, but when martial law comes to our country? Where was democracy when Ziaur Rahman seized power and issued martial law? That government had become of the army, by the army, for the army. So the definition of democracy has changed? Democracy does not see if I am elected. But when power grabs democracy sees.
