MP Anar murder: 3 accused granted 8 days remand

A court granted remand of three people arrested for their involvement in the murder of Member of Parliament (MP) Anwarul Azim Anar of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency for 8 days.

The arrested accused persons are - Amanullah alias Shimul Bhuiyan, Shilasti Rahman and Faisal Ali alias Saji.

Police produced them in court on Friday (May 24). After that, the investigating officer of the case DB Police Assistant Commissioner of Police Wari Zone Mahfuzul Islam applied to remand them for 10 days.

After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi's court granted remand of each of them for 8 days.

It may be noted that on May 11, Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar went to India for treatment. After three days passed, the family members could not contact him. When he went to India, he stayed at the house of Gopal Biswas, a resident of 17/3 Mandal Para Lane, Barahnagar Police Station, North 24 Parganas District, West Bengal.

He went to India from Bangladesh mainly for the purpose of consulting a doctor, family sources said. Later on May 13, he went out to consult the doctor at noon. Although he was supposed to return that evening, he did not return. Later, Gopal Biswas filed a missing complaint at Baranagar police station on May 18.
