Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) Additional Commissioner Mohammad Haroon Or Rasheed said that attempts have been made to kill Anwarul Azim (Anar), Member of Parliament of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency three times. Even Shaheen and Amanullah alias Shimul once planned to kill in Kolkata last January. But MP Annar survived as he did not fall into their trap.
Besides, after stepping into Shaheen's trap on the 13th, there was a plan to take Anar hostage and collect a large sum of money from his friends in Bangladesh and Kolkata using offensive pictures. But he was killed without regaining consciousness due to the application of excessive sedatives on him.
He said this in response to questions from journalists at a press conference organized at DB's conference room on Minto Road in the capital on Saturday (May 25) noon.
Haroon said that a team of Indian police is working in Dhaka to investigate the murder of parliament member Anar. Apart from this, we have found two things by analyzing the technical information and interrogation of the arrested accused. Two groups worked here. One group supported another group worked on implementation. Aktaruzzaman Shaheen, the mastermind of the murder, took the three members to Kolkata on April 30. A girl in that group was the main leader of the implementation. Shaheen stayed till the 10th, the main leader of the killing mission, the leader of the Purbo Bangla Communist party. Who traveled to India using a false name. That Amanullah alias Shimul came to the country after convincing Bhuiyan. We got some sensational information from them as Indian police are working here. When their work is over, we will also leave for Kolkata.
In response to the question about the reason for the murder, Haroon said that there could be many reasons behind the murder. All are members of the Purbo Bangla Communist Party in the implementation of this murder. From 2017 till date we have at least 5 to 6 throat slitting incidents. But there are many issues. The reason for the murder is yet to be ascertained. The reason for this murder can be said after further investigation.
The Additional Commissioner said that attempts have been made to kill Parliamentarian Anwarul earlier. They tried to kill even before the election. Then they failed. Member of Parliament Anwarul went to Kolkata for the second time from 17th to 18th of January. At that time the killers went to Kolkata to kill him. But that time they failed due to staying in hotel. In the third step they succeeded. But before the killing, their plan was to take the parliament member Anwarul hostage. He then blackmailed her for two days by taking offensive pictures of her and extorting huge sums of money from her friends in Kolkata and through hundi. But after going to the house, Anar lost consciousness after spraying her face with an anesthetic. Anar was photographed unconscious while he was unconscious. But their main target was to kill. The money to be recovered was supposed to be shared among the killers. However, as he did not regain consciousness after being sprayed, he abandoned the plan of blackmail and implemented the plan of disappearing the body. Then they sent the mobiles to different places. One of the killers even brought Anar's four mobiles to Benapole area. After coming here, Anar's opponent was called from four mobile phones. Called and said 'end'. The target was that the police would be busy with the opponent on the basis of this phone. Don't get the killers.
When asked whether there is any involvement in the gold smuggling ring, he said, nothing specific can be said. But there are many issues. After the investigation we can inform you.
No evidence was found in the murder case. When asked on what basis the murder is being talked about, Haroon said, "We have got a lot of information and evidence." I am not disclosing now for the sake of investigation. A murder case was filed in Kolkata because of the evidence. There has been a kidnapping case in our country.
