9 people were killed when a microbus carrying bridal party fell into the canal after the collapse of the Haludiya Ghat bridge in Barguna's Amtali upazila. Several others were injured in this incident. Police, fire service, divers and local people are carrying out rescue work after receiving the information.
The accident took place on Saturday (June 22) around noon on the bridge connected with Chawra and Haldia Hat of the upazila.
In this regard Amtali Police officer in charge (OC) Kazi Md. Sakhawat Hossain Tapu said that the bodies of 9 people have been recovered so far. Still 5-6 are missing.
The names of the injured were not immediately known.
