ADC Jisanul Haque suspended for leaking personal information

Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC) Jisanul Haque has been suspended for allegedly providing personal information.

On Sunday (June 23), the notification of temporary suspension of ADC Jisanul Haque was issued by the Disciplinary Branch of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Earlier, the police investigated how Asaduzzaman's personal information went online. Apart from this officer, two other non-cadre members of the police were also investigated. Departmental action has also been taken against them.

The notification signed by Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam said that the allegations of indulging in anti-discipline activities against Jisanul Haque have been found to be prima facie true. He has been suspended from service as per Section 39 (1) of Government Service Act 2018 and Rule 12 (1) of Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 2018.

The notification further stated that while on temporary suspension, he will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per Bangladesh Service Rules. This order issued in public interest will be effective immediately.

The discussion about Asaduzzaman Mia's wealth started on Sunday, the day before Eid-ul-Azha, centered around the news of a daily newspaper in Dhaka. According to the news, there is a house and two flats in Dhaka in the name of the wife of this former senior police officer, a house in the name of the son and a flat in the name of the daughter. Besides, his wife and children have 67 decimals of land in Dhaka, Gazipur and Narayanganj. Another 166 decimals of land is in the name of his family members in these three districts.

Although Asaduzzaman Mia claims that all his assets were bought with legitimate income. They can afford to acquire the said properties in the names of his sons and daughters. These are also consistent with his legitimate income.

According to the report published in The Manabzamin newspaper, there is a six-storey house owned by Afroza Zaman, the wife of former police officer Asaduzzaman Mia, on 10 kathas of land at 166 and 167 in Lane-1 of L Block of Bashundhara residential area of the capital. There is a flat in the name of Asaduzzaman Mia's wife in Eskaton of the capital. There is another flat in Dhanmondi. Apart from this, there is a flat in the name of Asaduzzaman's daughter in Siddheshwari.

The news story also said that between 2017 and 2019, a total of 106 decimals of land was bought in the name of Asaduzzaman's wife Afroza Zaman in Chandkhola Mauza of Kaliganj, Gazipur. Apart from this, in 2018, 28 decimal land was bought in the name of Afroza in Kaiyamsail-Kayetpara Mauza of Rupganj, Narayanganj. In the same year, another 32 decimal of land was bought in her name in the same mouza. In Purbachal there is a plot of 10 khata land in the name of Asaduzzaman Mia. Apart from this, Asaduzzaman's family members have 21 khata of land in Aftabnagar of the capital. Nikunja-1 also has a house in the name of Asaduzzaman's younger son.
