In Mymensingh, a doctor named Aparna Basak (30) died by setting herself on fire. Aparna's mother, Jyotsna Basak, who was killed in the incident, filed a case with the police station.
The case was filed at Kotwali police station on Wednesday (June 26) accusing one person of abetting suicide.
Aparna posted a status on her Facebook early on Tuesday (June 25). She wrote there, 'Be well. I can't anymore. Maybe I lost according to everyone. A person named Khandaker Mahbub Elahi was tagged in the status. After that, Arpana's burnt body was recovered from her room.
Inspector (Investigation) of Kotwali Model Police Station Anwar Hossain said, "The mother of the deceased doctor, Jyotsna Basak, filed a case on Wednesday on the charge of incitement to suicide as the plaintiff. Khandaker Mahbub Elahi, tagged in the status, has been accused. But Mahbul Elahi has no address. Facebook ID is also showing disabled. We are working to identify that person.
Aparna Basak is the daughter of Late Ratan Basak of Sarishabari Upazila of Jamalpur. Two months ago, she rented a house on the ground floor of a house in Panditpara area of Mymensingh city. Mother lived with Jyotsna Basak in that house. According to family sources, Dr. Aparna Basak was working in a private hospital in Mymensingh city. She passed MBBS from Bogura Medical College.
