Adani Group's coal-fired power plant in Godda, India, was in partial production as one unit was shut down for several days.

A complete shutdown was reported on Saturday (June 29).

Bangladesh imports 1600 MW of electricity from that power plant which passes through Rohanpur in Chapainawabganj, Bangladesh. According to the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) report, it provided 500 MW of electricity on 21 June.

A source at Adani Group's Bangladesh office told Barta24.com on condition of anonymity that one unit of the power plant was shut down for routine maintenance. Another unit was shut down due to technical problems. It will be in production within a day or two. Bangladesh owes a lot of money for the power plant whether any issue of those arrears is here. In response to such a question, he said, it has no connection with the arrears. Electricity production is completely stopped due to technical reasons.

According to PGCB sources, power plants are regularly maintained due to low demand during Eid holidays. First unit of Adani power plant goes into schedule maintenance before Eid. It is scheduled to return to production on July 5. Sudden shutdown of supply from the second unit has created a major shortfall in power supply in the country. Apart from this, a unit of 622 MW capacity of Payra Power Plant is closed from June 25 for maintenance. This leads to load shedding in rural areas outside Dhaka.

The first unit of Adani's power plant started supplying electricity with an average of 750 MW in March last year. Production from the second unit started in June.

News of load shedding has been coming since Eid. Many people are complaining on Facebook that there is no electricity in some areas of the village most of the day and night.
