Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun re-appointed as IG of police

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has been re-appointed as Inspector General of Bangladesh Police on contractual basis.

His contract was extended by another year in a notification signed by Bhaskar Debnath Bappi, Deputy Secretary, Contracts and Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Administration, on Friday (July 5).

According to the notification, according to Section 49 of the Public Service Act, 2018, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has been re-appointed as Inspector General of Police of Bangladesh Police for a period of 1 year from the date of joining on July 12, 2024, in continuation of his previous contract and on similar terms. .

Earlier, in a notification of the Ministry of Public Administration on January 9 last year, the government had extended the term of Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun as IGP by one and a half years in the first phase.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun BCS 8th batch officer was born on January 12, 1964 in Srihail village of Shalla upazila of Sunamganj. He holds a BA (Honors) in Sociology from Chattogram University.

He joined Police Force as ASP in 1982 as a 1986 batch officer of BCS (Police) cadre. He was promoted to the post of Additional IGP in May 2021. Earlier he was the DIG of Dhaka range.

During his career, Abdullah Al-Mamun served in the Police Headquarters, Metropolitan Police, Armed Police Battalion and various important units in different districts. Besides, he made a brilliant contribution to world peace by working in the United Nations peace mission.

He received the President's Police Medal (PPM) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the workplace. He was scheduled to retire on January 11, 2023.
