Dhaka: Labor and Employment Ministry Secretary AHM Safiquzzaman commented that domestic and foreign conspirators are involved in the unrest in the garment sector.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a press conference on labor dissatisfaction and labor situation monitoring at Tongi Industrial Relations School in Gazipur on Thursday (September 12) afternoon.

He said that local and international circles are also involved in the labor unrest. AHM Safiquzzaman said that many industrial owners fled the country after August 5. Due to this, salaries are not being paid in those factories. That's why the discontent doesn't stop. A worker can never set fire to his workplace; it is caused by external forces.

Referring to the intelligence information, the Labor Secretary said that the workers of the garment factories are being used in the dispute of fake business locally, due to which the discontent in the industrial city is not decreasing.

He said that no developed country in the world could ensure 100 out of 100 labor rights. We cannot solve all the problems here overnight.

Many of the workers' demands are reasonable, and employers can meet them if they want. Again, some demands are not logical to implement now. My question is whether the demand to double the minimum wage now is realistic?

Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Ministry of Labor and Employment MD Tariqul Islam was present at this time. BGMEA President Khandaker Rafiqul Islam along with BGMEA officials, leaders of labor federation and officials of related departments. After the conference he visited the Jaber & Jobair Garments Limited factory. #
