The court has banned former Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed and his wife from leaving the country.

On Thursday (October 17) in view of the application of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Assamas Jaglul Hossain issued this ban.

According to the complaint of the ACC, Aziz Ahmed is under investigation for abuse of power, corruption and misappropriation of money in his own name and in the name of his family members by laundering money abroad through various banks and entities, and conducting business and buying houses. . It is known that Aziz and his wife Dilshad Nahar Kakali are trying to leave the country.

In the interest of a fair investigation, it is necessary to cancel the foreign travel of the two.

General (Retd) Aziz Ahmed was appointed as the Bangladesh Army Chief on 18 June 2018. Before becoming the Army Chief, he was Quartermaster General (QMG) at Army Headquarters. Prior to that he was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army Training and Doctrine Command, Mymensingh. He was the Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) from 2012 to 2016.

There are also allegations of Aziz Ahmed's cooperation in changing the names of the two brothers Haris and Joseph in their passports. In that incident, on September 24, the Election Commission canceled four fake NIDs of his two brothers Haris and Joseph.
