Dhaka: Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Executive Director DR. Iftekharuzzaman, Head of Reform Committee on Anti-Corruption Commission(ACC) said, many of those who think they are victorious in the movement of the students do not even have the thought of state reform in their agenda. They still have an agenda to perpetuate discrimination in various ways.

He said this while speaking as the guest of honor at a consultation meeting titled 'Civil Society: Past, Present and Future' at Lakeshore Hotel in Gulshan in the capital on Saturday (October 19).

Commenting that the way intelligence agencies have been used by the Awami League government is unprecedented in the world, he said that she (Sheikh Hasina) has harassed the intelligence agencies by targeting private organizations working on anti-corruption and humanity, including TIB.

Dr. Iftekharuzzaman said, as in the past, civil society still has to work with pressure and risk. When the government that comes to power considers civil society as an enemy, says it is a traitor, sues. This situation must be changed.

He said, one form if out of power, another form when in power - political parties have to come out of this trend. It must be reformed.

Environment advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that it would not be right to reach any conclusion about the work of the interim government. Time must be given. It is not right to make complaints in a blanket manner.
