A sound grenade thrown by the police in front of Bangabhaban injured 5 people including a journalist.
The incident took place at around 8:15 pm on Tuesday (October 22).
The injured were rescued from the scene and treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The injured are Barta24.com multimedia reporter Raju Ahmed (25), video journalist Ripon Reza (28), Shyampur Bahumukhi School and College student Faisal Ahmed Vishal (24), hawker Shafiqul Islam (45), and Cumilla Victoria College student Arif Khan (20).
Incidentally, the protesters are protesting in front of Bangabhaban demanding the resignation of President Md. Shahabuddin. At one stage, when they tried to enter Bangabhaban, police and army members stopped them. This further increased tension. It is reported that protesters were injured by sound grenades and shotguns fired by law enforcement officers.
