Incidents of robberies increased in Mohammadpur, 45 arrested in joint force operation

Recently, several sensational robberies have taken place in the capital's Mohammadpur. Locals have protested by surrounding the police station to improve law and order.

In such a situation, a total of 45 members of robbers, extortionists and juvenile gangs have been arrested with sharp weapons from Dhaka Udyan, Chand Udyan and Navodaya Housing in a joint force operation.

The joint operation was conducted from Mohammadpur area at around 10 pm on Saturday (September 26) by the 23rd East Bengal, RAB and police of the 46th Independent Brigade of the Army.

The army said that since the acquisition of magisterial powers, the army has arrested a total of 152 criminals, 18 firearms, 271 rounds of ammunition, 172 types of various domestic and foreign weapons, 1 grenade and a large amount of narcotics under Mohammadpur, Adabor and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police stations.

Recently, a sensational robbery took place at a mini super shop in Basila, Mohammadpur. In the robbery, some men armed with knives, seen in the CCTV footage, took two people in the super shop hostage and fled with money from the cash counter. And a woman was robbed of money at gunpoint in the Navodaya Housing area. Locals alleged that armed robberies are now a daily occurrence in every area of Mohammadpur in the daytime.

Following these incidents, law enforcement agencies have increased surveillance to restore law in Mohammadpur. The joint forces have also arrested the main accused in the sensational robbery at a supermarket in Basila on Saturday (September 26). The name of the arrested robber is Md. Aslam alias Rubel alias Alam (32).

It is learned that three people, including a child, were shot in the Geneva Camp by drug dealers on Saturday (October 26) evening. Locals surrounded the police station at night seeking security due to the extreme deterioration of law and order.

A local victim said, "I was standing next to a child. Suddenly, a bullet hit my hand and leg. And the child also got a few shots."

Locals said that the law and order situation in Mohammadpur of the capital has deteriorated drastically after the fall of the Awami League government.

Tejgaon Zone ADC Mohammad Zia told the media, "Our operation is going on. We are trying; there is no flaw in our efforts. Perhaps patrolling is getting weak due to our capacity. We have informed our higher authorities for this. Additional force is being provided from today. "We will resolve this dangerous situation in the Mohammadpur area by strengthening patrols."
