A two-phase Biswa Ijtema is starting in Tongi, Gazipur on January 31. The first phase will start on January 31 and end on February 2, and the second phase will start on February 7 and end on February 9.
Home Adviser Lt. Gen.(Retd)Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury gave this information at a meeting held by the ministry on Monday (November 4) regarding the upcoming Biswa Ijtema schedule and other issues involving the two groups of Tabligh Jamaat (Zubayr and Saad).
However, the Home Affairs Adviser said that who will get which date has not yet been finalized, and that discussions have been held on handing over the Biswa Ijtema grounds and preparations, security, visas for foreign guests, uninterrupted power supply, construction of floating bridges, emergency disaster arrangements, healthy food arrangements, traffic congestion relief on the day of the final prayer, etc.
Every year, Biswa Ijtema is known as one of the largest Muslim gatherings in the world. Lakhs of Muslims from different countries of the world, including Bangladesh, gathered here to participate in prayers and religious discussions. In order to maintain the continuity of the Biswa Ijtema and complete it smoothly, this year's Ijtema has been divided into two phases, which will be particularly helpful for the safety and convenience of the participants.
Preparations for the Ijtema have already begun, and the administration and law enforcement agencies are making all-out preparations to complete this huge religious gathering smoothly, said Home Affairs Adviser.
Meanwhile, the 5-day long twin Ijtema of Tablighi Jamaat will begin on November 28 at Tin Shed next to Tongi Maidan in Dhaka, ahead of the 58th Biswa Ijtema.
