BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia exchanged greetings with the Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
They exchanged greetings at the reception ceremony at Senakunja on Thursday (November 21) afternoon on Armed Forces Day.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia participated in the Armed Forces Day ceremony after a long time. Khaleda Zia is accompanied by her youngest son, the late Arafat Rahman Koko's wife Sharmila Rahman Sinthi and housekeeper Fatema.
BNP party sources say that along with Khaleda Zia, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has also been invited for the first time since 2009. A total of 26 people have been invited to the Armed Forces Day ceremony this year. Among them are BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members, vice-chairmen and former military officers of other ranks. In the past, so many leaders from the party did not receive invitations.
The Awami League government fell on August 5. The next day, President Md. Shahabuddin declared the 12th Jatiya Sangsad dissolved. Then on August 8, the advisors of the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus took oath.
