The 1200 MW coal-based power plant located in Matarbari in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox's Bazar has arrived with coal after 31 days after being closed for a long month due to coal shortage.
On Wednesday (November 27) morning, the Panamanian flagged ship 'Declan Duff' arrived at the Matarbari Coal Power Plant's own jetty, bringing 69,600 metric tons of coal.
Matarbari Coal Power Plant Managing Director Nazmul Haque said, 'The plant was closed for the last 31 days due to coal shortage, but during this time we were able to complete the maintenance work of the units and arrange to bring coal from Indonesia. We will return to power generation very soon.
