Students and the public have taken out a torchlight procession in Feni to protest the attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India, and the statements of extremist Hindutva activists who came to the Bilonia border and mocked Bangladesh.
The procession, organized under the banner of the District Volunteer Family on Thursday (December 5) night, started from the city's Shaheed Minar premises, circled the Khejur Chattar, Boro Masjid Road and ended at the Shaheed Minar.
During this time, the protesters raised slogans like ‘Delhi or Dhaka, Dhaka-Dhaka’, ‘Tripura or Feni, Feni-Feni’, ‘India’s grandeur, spit and spit’, ‘India’s brokers, beware’, ‘People will not tolerate the insult to our country’, ‘Why the attack on the High Commission, Delhi will answer’, ‘Indian aggression should be stopped’, ‘People will stop Indian aggression’.
The speakers at the rally after the procession said that what happened in Agartala, India is a violation of international law. A group of them entered the no-man’s land on the Bilonia border and pointed their microphones at Bangladesh and made various provocative statements and violent slogans. These activities are a threat to the country’s independence and sovereignty. They announced that they would unite to protect the country and thwart all conspiracies.
Volunteer Md. Raihan said, "Neighboring country India has been making various conspiracies to embarrass the government formed through the student-people's revolution. They want to destabilize Bangladesh by attacking the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India, and making various provocative statements. Recently, they came to the Bilonia border in Parashuram and made radical statements. We have organized this event in protest against all these." He said, "Hindu and Muslim are all one in the interest of the country. We are ready to fight together to protect the sovereignty of the country." At this time, members of various volunteer organizations including members of the volunteer family SB Priyo, Rubel Tarek and Abdul Hannan were present.
