Former Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen has been appointed as the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
President Md. Shahabuddin appointed Dr. Abdul Momen to the post on Tuesday (December 10). The Cabinet Division has issued a notification in this regard. In addition, retired District and Sessions Judge Mia Ali Akbar Azizi and Brigadier General (retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid have been appointed as the commissioners of the ACC.
On October 29, Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah and two commissioners (investigation) Md. Zahurul Haque and commissioner (investigation) Md. Asia Khatun resigned from the post of ACC chairman. Since then, the posts of ACC chairman and two commissioners have been vacant.
Dr. Momen was appointed as the senior secretary of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs on August 18. Later, he was given the post of Senior Secretary of the Security Services Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs. It is learnt that he submitted his resignation to the Ministry of Public Administration on December 9.
Dr. Momen is one of the top officials who were discussed during the change of administration after August 5. He was found and given the responsibility of the Public Security Division. Along with him, others who were found and placed in important positions include Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser M Siraj Uddin Mia, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Md. Mokhles Ur Rahman, among others.
