The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to ban five former Awami League MPs and their families, including former Feni-1 MP Alauddin Ahmed Chowdhury Nasim from leaving the country.
The decision was taken in the first meeting led by the newly appointed ACC Chairman Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen. It will be sent to the court soon.
The decision was taken from the ACC head office on Thursday (December 12), confirmed the agency's public relations officer Akhtarul Islam.
Apart from Alauddin Nasim, the ban was approved for former Bhola-3 MP Nur Nabi Chowdhury Shaon, Habiganj-3 MP Abu Zahir, Noakhali-1 MP HM Ibrahim and Lakshmipur-2 MP Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayon. The approved decision also approved a ban on their wives, sons and daughters from traveling abroad.
They are accused of money laundering, abuse of power and embezzlement of funds through irregularities in projects, as well as amassing huge illegal wealth at home and abroad.
