Professor Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser to the interim government, said, Victory Day is not only a day of pride, it is also a day of our oath.
He made this call in a message given on the occasion of the great Victory Day on Monday (December 16).
Professor Muhammad Yunus said, today is December 16, Victory Day. This day is a very glorious and memorable day in the history of Bangladesh. On December 16, 1971, through the victory in the great Liberation War, we achieved the taste of independence and our own identity as a nation. In exchange for the blood and sacrifice of lakhs of martyrs, we got our desired independence.
He said Victory Day is not only a source of our pride; it is also a day of our oath. Our oath is to remain united, protect the sovereignty of the country and retain the spirit of the Liberation War.
The Chief Adviser said, "On this day, we remember with respect the heroic martyrs of our freedom struggle and pay tribute to their sacrifice. The interim government formed through the mass uprising of students, workers and the people is pledging to work together to build a developed, prosperous and well-governed Bangladesh. We are determined to make our country more developed and stronger and to enjoy the full benefits of independence."
