Dhaka, (Barta24.com): Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told that, China can play an important role in repatriation process of the 10 lakhs Myanmar’s Rohingyas to their homeland who are now residing in Bangladesh. In solving this gigantic problem she called upon China to come forward.
On Thursday afternoon (March21) International division Minister of Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Song Tao when called on the Sheikh Hasina at Gana Bhavan, the Prime Minister commented it as told by the PM’s speech writer Nazrul Islam to the waiting journalists.
Nazrul Islam informed that, ’Prime Minister commented that China can play very important role in sending back the Rohingyas to their homeland and she sought the cooperation of China in this regard.'
The visiting Communist Party leader informed that China meanwhile has been working on the problem of Rohigyas who was driven out from Myanmar.
Nazrul Islam said that, Song Tao has profusely appreciated Sheikh Hasina's government which is working relentlessly for the improvement of socio-economic condition of the country.
CPC leader said that the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China will deepen more under the leadership of Awami League and CPC.
Song congratulated Sheikh Hasina for assuming power for the third time. He conveyed the goodwill of Chinese president and Prime Minister. He also invited Sheikh Hasina to visit China.
Sheikh Hasina reciprocated the goodwill of the Chinese leaders and mentioned that China is an important partner in the development process of Bangladesh. She thanked that China for their participation of Bangladesh’s several infrastructure development including the construction of power stations.
Sheikh Hasina also mentioned the visit of China by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Hasina in 1952 and 1956.
Nazrul Islam told that the PM has also said in future the relation between China and Bangladesh will be more closer. Mentioning the formation of BCIM Sheikh Hasina said for bolstering trade and commerce between two countries we are trying utmost.
She said that a special economic zone for China has been set up on 700 acres of land at Mirersharai.
Nazrul Islam further told that Sheikh Hasina has called upon China to bring gas from Myanmar for the Mirersharai economic zone. She also called upon China for making investments in different sectors including agriculture.
A memorandum between Awami League and CPC was signed as gesture of friendship. In the meeting with the Chinese delegation of six members Awami League leaders Farookh Khan, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, Shammi Ahmed and Barrister Biplob Barua were present.
Earlier the Chinese delegation was received in the morning at the airport by Awami league leaders Abu Sayed Al Mahmud Shwapan, Shammi Ahmed and Biplob Barua.
