Dhaka,(Barta24.com): The ninth span of biggest infrastructure of the country and also the dream of the millions of the people of South- Bengal, the Padma bridge was set up on the bridge frame.
On Friday (March 22) morning the span was set up on pillars no. 34 and 35. After the set of the ninth span now, the 1350 meter of the total 6150 meter long bridge has become visible to all. According to the estimate, twenty two percent of the bridge work is now complete, according to bridge sources.
Though the process of setting of the ninth span began on Thursday(March 21) but due technical glitch it was deferred. Earlier the span was brought to Jazira end of Shariatpur from the Mawa stack yard of Munshiganj on Wednesday.
According to bridge concerned people, the length of the span is 150 meters. A crane with the capacity of carrying 3600 tons fixed in the ship Tian-e carried the span from Kumarbhoge stack yard jetty to Jazira point.
After many dramas staged regarding financing over the much talked Padma bridge, finally the construction started in December of 2015. Work on the 6.15 kilometers bridge was supposed to be completed in December of 2018. But due some technical faults and natural adverse situation, the work on Padma bridge crossed the time frame.
The bridge concerned said that if the present speed continues then the bridge will be opened to traffic at the end of 2020.
In the current month another span will be set up, said the sources.
