Dhaka, (Barta24.com): Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina distributed prestigious ‘Swadhinata Padak’ to 12 persons and one organization on Monday(March 25) at Bangabandhu International Conference Center.
This time the recipients in liberation and freedom struggle category is Martyred Intellectual Prof. Mofazzel Haider Chowdhury(posthumous), Martyred ATM Zafar Alam(posthumous), AKM Mozammel Haque, former Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Dr. Kazi Misbahunnahar, Abdul Khaleq(posthumous) and Prof. Mohammad Khaled(posthumous).
In Medical service- Brigadier General Dr. Nurunnahar Fatema, in Social service and public service PKSF president Dr. Kazi Khaliquzzaman Ahmed received the Swadhinata Padak’.
For contributions in culture Mutaza Bashir got the award. In research Dr. Hasina Khan got the award. In literary category Teacher and litterateur Prof.Hassan Azizul Haque was awarded.
In science and Technology category Agriculture Research Institute was awarded the Swadhinata Padak.
It may be mentioned here that since March 26 of 1977 every year the persons and organizations, government has been awarding this prestigious Padak. This is the highest civilian state award of the country.
The cabinet division according to amended’ National award/ Padak gazette enhanced the award money in Swadhinata Padak, Bangabandhu National Award, Begum Rokeya Padak, National Film Award and national Sports Award. Earlier a gold medal weighing 50 grams of 18 carrots, one replica of the award and Taka one lakh was given. However the amount of money was later on increased to Taka two lakhs.
