Japan’s cooperation will continue in Bangladesh

The ambassador of Japan in Bangladesh Heroyasu Izumi said that the cooperation of Japan in the economic development of Bangladesh will continue.

He said this while he made a courtesy call to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Gonobhavan on Monday(May20).

After the meeting press secretary to the Prime Minister Ehsanul Karim briefed the journalists.

Hiroyasu Izumi told that during Prime Minister’s ensuing visit to Japan an agreement of 40the Overseas Development Assistance( ODA ) equivalent to two billion dollars will be signed which is 35 percent bigger than one of last year.

Quoting the ambassador press secretary said prime Minister of Japan Sinzo Abey is eagerly waiting to receive the Bangladesh Prime Minister. Congratulating Sheikh Hasina for re- election, the ambassador said that the coming five years is very important for the development of Bangladesh. Because the country will go ahead economically during this period, the ambassador said.

The ambassador mentioned that Japan’s cooperation will continue in the construction work of the 1200 MW power project at Matarbari of Maheshkhali under Cox’s bazaar district.

Mentioning the cooperation of Japan in various projects Sheikh Hasina said that she is also eagerly waiting to meet Sinzo Abey expressing her good wishes. The Prime Minister said that Japan is a trusted and great friend of Bangladesh.

She memorized the construction of Rupsha bridge with Japan’s cooperation during the rule of Bangabandhu.

Prime Minister’s principal secretary Md. Nazibur Rahman, chief coordinator of SDG at PMO Md. Abul Kalam Azad and secretary of PMO Sazzadul Hassan were present among others.
