The cyclone Bulbul has intensified over the Bay of Bengal and is moving towards the Bangladeshi coast with a wind speed of up to 110-120 kilometres per hour.

The cyclonic storm has left the sea rough and caused rain in coastal districts, including Barisal, Khulna and Patuakhali, on Friday (Nov 8) leading to a decline in temperature.

The Met office has asked the Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra maritime ports to hoist local warning signal number 4 and all fishing boats and trawlers to stay in safe places until further notice.

It said the storm was 695 kilometres southwest of Chittagong marine port, 645 kilometres away from Cox’s Bazar, 585 kilometres from Mongla and 575 kilometres from Pyra ports on Friday.

The wind speed at the centre of the storm was ranging from 100 kilometres to 120 kilometres, the Met office said.

It said the cyclone may intensify further and lash the coastal areas of Bangladesh and India’s West Bengal on Saturday (Nov 9).

Meteorologist Omar Faruque told Barta24.com, 'Cyclone Bulbul is moving towards Bangladesh. It can hit Mongla coastal area on Saturday. There might be more rain and temperature might decline.'
