Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni has announced the distribution of Taka 292 crore 24 lkah 92 thousand 810 to 9 lakh 91 thousand 582 students across the country as integrated stipend through mobile banking.
She announced this on Monday (Feb.24) at the stipend distribution function organized by Secondary and Higher Secondary Education directorate. Agrani Bank and bKash will serve as its partners.
Announcing the inauguration of the stipend distribution program, the Education Minister said that under the Integrated Education Stipend program 9 lakh 91 thousand 582 students of class VII, IX and X of 26 upazillas are getting the stipend till 2018-19. Through bKash accounts the students are able to draw the stipend money.
Dr. Dipu Moni said from now on the stipend will go to the beneficiaries directly. The middlemen will not get any benefit.
She said that because the country is digital so it is possible to provide stipend through digital device. From now on the encashment of stipend no longer remain in manual system.
She joined students and teachers of two schools in Barisal through video conferencing. During this time the students congratulated the Minister for Education for giving the stipends.
Secondary and Higher Education Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain, Director General of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education Prof. Dr. Syed Golam Faruk, CEO of bKash Kamal Qadir, Managing Director of Agrani Bank Mohammad Shams-ul Islam, Additional Secretary Md. Fazlur Rahman were present in the function.
