Amphan, a very powerful cyclone created in the Bay of Bengal, is moving towards Bangladesh at a speed of 15-20 km per hour.

Within 65 km of the cyclone center, the maximum wind speed is 210 km per hour, which is increasing to 220 km in the form of gusty winds. Amphan can strike at a speed of 140-160 kmph.

That is why the Coast Guard has begun evacuating people from high-risk coastal areas to safe places in the dark of night.

Coastguard headquarters said several units have begun work at the Coastguard to evacuate people from high-risk coastal areas to safer shelters. Already 300 to 400 people have been taken to safe shelter. Work is underway to take more people to safer shelters.

According to the meteorological office, the coastal districts of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalokati, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barisal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chittagong and their adjacent islands and char lowlands might be affected by the cyclone and the new moon. 4 to 5 feet can be inundated by higher tides.

During the cyclone Amphan, Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalokati, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barisal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chittagong districts and their remote islands and chars with heavy to very heavy rainfall with wind speed of 140 to 160 km per hour. Fishing boats and trawlers stationed in the North Bay and the deep sea have been asked to go to safe places immediately and remain in safe shelter until further notice.
