Referring to the people's demand for a change of government in this country, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday said the Awami League has no right to stay in power.

“The change of government in this country is now the demand of the people. The Awami League has no right to stay in power. They could not solve any problem,” he said.

The BNP leader came up with the observation while addressing a protest rally of BNP at Naya Paltan in the capital in the morning.

Mirza Fakhrul said that “Tareq Rahman has been deported with a false case. False cases against our 35 lakh leaders and activists. They have disappeared more than 500 people. They have killed thousands of people”.

“Even today, they have detained more than fifty leaders and activists. We strongly condemn it. We demand the immediate release of all arrested leaders and activists and the withdrawal of all charges,” he said.

The BNP leader added: “That damage has been done, we want compensation. We want compensation for those who were killed. We want justice, fairness.”

The government created communal riots today, disrupts human rights. It has made the life of the people miserable in various ways, he said.
