Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar said that the demand of changing the national anthem by former army officer Brigadier General (dismissed) Abdullahil Aman Azmi is his personal.

He said this in response to questions from journalists after a discussion program at a hotel in Rangpur city on Sunday (September 8).

Professor Mia Golam Parwar said, Abdullahil Aman Azmi is not a member of Jamaat-e-Islami. So what he said about changing national anthem is his personal comment. Jamaat-e-Islami is not responsible for this.

In the statement given by 48 prominent citizens of the country, it is mentioned that "Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami advised the nation to forget everything of the past", but he said that the Amir of Jamaat did not say such words. Therefore, the central leader added that Jamaat will not show any reaction to such a statement.

Mentioning that the reform of the country is now the biggest challenge, Professor Mia Golam Parwar said that in the last 15 years, the friends of fascism have been hiding in the holes of the state machinery. The Constitution should be reformed; the Election Commission should be reformed. Our constitutional institutions have been partisan in the last 15 years, they need to be reformed.

He said it will take a long time to clean up the mess of the last 15 years. Although not all reforms are possible for the interim government, the big challenge now is to do those that are needed to have fair elections. He urged the interim government to hold an election by making the necessary reforms.
