US troops would move forward if Taiwan is attacked: Biden
US President Joe Biden has said the United States is committed to protecting Taiwan's security and sovereignty.
"If China invades Taiwan, the US military will step in to protect them," Biden said.
Biden made the remarks in an interview with CNN on Thursday night (October 21), local time.
China claims Taiwan as its territory. Beijing has also demanded full sovereignty over Taiwan. Most countries in the world have been supporting China's policy.
The United States had always supported the "one China" policy. But in recent years, the United States has moved away from that position. In addition to strengthening Taiwan militarily, the US administration is deepening bilateral ties with the country.
