No security risk around Durga Puja: IGP

Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) said that there is no security risk around the upcoming Durga Puja. Moinul Islam said that the police will be in the strictest position to ensure the safety of the Puja.

The IGP said these things in an event at the Tourist Police headquarters on Thursday (September 26).

He said, Puja has been taking place in this country for a long time. Bangladesh Police will be in the strictest position to ensure its security. There is no security risk around Durga Puja.

In response to a question, IGP Moinul Islam said that there is no danger of terrorist attacks. Even then, the police will be on high alert. No concessions will be made on security.

Moinul Islam requested everyone to report any untoward incident to the concerned police station immediately during the Puja.

During the anti-discrimination student movement, at least 500 police stations in the country were attacked, vandalized and police vehicles burnt, said the IGP. He said the vehicles has already been replaced. He also claimed that the activities of the police station are going on normally.
